The Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, has inaugurated a N70 million youth empowerment initiative, distributing funds to 700 young people from the state’s 21 Local Government Areas. At a ceremony held Friday at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, each participant received a grant of N100,000, aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
Governor Idris, represented by his Deputy, Umar Abubakar-Tafida, emphasized that the funds should be used to establish small businesses, with the goal of empowering recipients to eventually create employment opportunities for others. He highlighted the program’s inclusive design, ensuring equal participation for both men and women.
The governor urged beneficiaries to “make judicious use of the grant to transform their lives and assist others in the future.”
State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Nura Bala-Fingila, praised Governor Idris for the initiative, calling it a “game changer” for youth across Kebbi. He encouraged the recipients to maximize the benefits of the program to enhance their livelihoods and urged the people of Kebbi State to support the administration’s policies aimed at youth empowerment and community development.
