The Katsina State Government, lauded the Air Component of “Operation FANSAN YAMMA” and troops from the Nigerian Army’s 17 Brigade for a successful offensive against notorious bandit leaders, including “Manore Lalbi,” at Bichi Hill.
The coordinated operation, based on credible intelligence and reconnaissance, targeted bandit camps linked to escalating criminal activities in Danmusa, Safana, and Kankara Local Government Areas.
These groups were implicated in widespread abductions, cattle rustling, and violent attacks on communities such as Maidabino, Yantumaki, and Danmusa.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dikko Umar Radda, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) executed precise airstrikes on identified bandit strongholds, paving the way for a decisive ground assault by troops.
“Despite attempts by the bandits to regroup and resist, several were neutralized in prolonged firefights.
Those fleeing to nearby trees or escaping on motorcycles were tracked and eliminated through additional airstrikes,” the statement revealed.
The joint operation dismantled bandit hideouts and key facilities, significantly degrading their operational capabilities.
Governor Radda praised the military’s collaborative efforts, emphasizing their commitment to restoring peace in Katsina State and enhancing security across the North West region.
“This successful offensive demonstrates the determination and resilience of our security forces.
The state government remains committed to supporting these efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens,” he stated.
