The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo Garba, engaged transport stakeholders to ensure compliance with the enforcement of third-party motor insurance for vehicles operating in the state.
During the meeting, held on Wednesday, Garba met with representatives from the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), the Nigeria Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), and Kano Line Motor Park.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, noted that the commissioner praised transport operators for their cooperation and high compliance rate, revealing that over 85% of vehicle owners had obtained the required insurance documents since enforcement began.
“The Kano State Police Command will continue to enforce third-party motor insurance as directed by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun,” Haruna stated.
The commissioner urged transport stakeholders to further educate their members on compliance and encouraged the public to report suspicious activities to the police via official hotlines: 08032419754, 08123821575, or 09019292926.
He also emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and securing third-party insurance to prevent legal consequences and enhance road safety.
