The Kano State House of Assembly has approved amendments to five bills establishing the position of Deputy Managing Director in five state agencies. The decision aims to enhance administrative efficiency and ensure continuity in leadership within these organizations.
The amended bills include the Kano State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (Amendment) Bill 2025, Kano State Water Resources and Engineering Construction Agency (Amendment) Bill 2025, Kano State Broadcasting Corporation (Amendment) Bill 2025, Kano State Television Corporation (Amendment) Bill 2025, and Kano State Printing Press (Amendment) Bill 2025.
Following deliberations in the Committee of the Whole House, the Assembly passed the bills after a third reading by Clerk Bashir Diso.
The affected agencies—responsible for agriculture, water resources, media, and printing—will now have a Deputy Managing Director to support leadership functions.
Explaining the significance of the new positions, Majority Leader Hon. Lawan Husseini emphasized that the addition of deputies will prevent disruptions in agency operations.
He noted that in the absence of a Managing Director, a deputy can step in to ensure seamless administration rather than allowing work to come to a standstill.
The approval marks a strategic move by the state legislature to strengthen governance structures within key public institutions.
