Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, is preparing to launch a fleet of 100 free Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses for civil servants, according to a statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Musa, on Thursday.
This initiative aligns with the current administration’s commitment to advancing the interests of workers and improving living conditions for the poor, vulnerable, and underserved populations in the state.
Musa emphasized that the buses will facilitate the daily commute of civil servants, aimed at alleviating their challenges and enhancing productivity.
To oversee the Free Transportation Scheme, a Joint Management Committee will be established, consisting of representatives from organized labor, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), along with members of the State Government.
“The Kaduna State Government will continue to fashion and implement policies and measures to bring succor to the people. We are committed to transforming the lives of the less privileged.
With the sustained support of our citizens, we shall make Kaduna State a model for social welfare interventions,” the statement emphasized.
In addition, Governor Sani has approved a new minimum wage of ₦72,000 for civil servants in Kaduna State, effective November 2024.
