The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has scheduled a nationwide mop-up examination for Saturday, June 28, 2025, to accommodate thousands of candidates who missed earlier sessions of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
A total of 96,838 candidates are expected to participate in the mop-up exercise, which will be conducted across 183 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide.
This special session is intended for candidates who either failed biometric verification during the main UTME or were absent from both the main and rescheduled examinations.
The figure includes 5,096 candidates who could not be verified biometrically during the earlier phases of the examination, as well as 91,742 others who were absent during the main or supplementary exams.
Some additional candidates are on standby, pending further verification of their eligibility.
In a statement issued by JAMB’s Public Communications Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Board emphasized that this opportunity applies exclusively to the 2025 UTME cycle.
He noted that the mop-up was necessitated by technical and logistical issues that affected some candidates during earlier sittings.
Meanwhile, JAMB has intensified efforts to tackle examination malpractice and technical shortcomings at CBT centres.
Following comprehensive reviews of the mock, main, and rescheduled UTME exercises, a total of 113 CBT centres have been suspended or delisted for their involvement in various forms of misconduct. These include cases of technical sabotage, impersonation, and other illicit activities.
As a result of the crackdown, certain examination towns implicated in widespread irregularities have been deactivated. Affected candidates will be reassigned to the nearest viable centres to ensure their participation in the mop-up exam.
The Board has called for understanding and cooperation from candidates affected by the changes, assuring them that all measures are being taken to guarantee a fair and credible examination process.
