Former Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, has condemned the killing of five persons in Ezinachi community, Okigwe Local Government Area of the state.
The victims—identified as Emeka Ezeagwula and his wife, Blessing, Ejike Otuonye, Chidi Chineke, and a member of the local vigilante group—were reportedly murdered by gunmen on Saturday, August 23.
In a statement issued on Sunday, August 24, Ihedioha described the attack as a massacre, stressing that the crime was a brutal assault on human dignity and community life.
According to him, “this heinous act is not just a statistic but transcends to cutting short the lives of fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, and defenders of their community.”
The former governor lamented the rising insecurity, warning that indifference in addressing such crimes continues to embolden perpetrators of evil.
He declared: “I stand in deep mourning with the families of the victims, the Ezinachi community – and the entire Okigwe zone. Their pain is our collective pain. Their loss is an assault on all of us as a people.”
