The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate deployment of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) to secure the safe release of Afenifere Youth Leader, Prince Eniola Ojajuni, who was kidnapped on February 17, 2025, while traveling to Abuja.
A statement released on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, reaffirmed the police’s commitment to Ojajuni’s rescue, assuring that all necessary resources and expertise would be deployed to ensure his safe return.
“The IGP commends the bravery and swift action of these gallant officers who have demonstrated their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens. In the same vein, the IGP has ordered the immediate deployment of the FID Intelligence Response Team to prioritise the safe rescue of Prince Eniola Ojajuni, the Afenifere Youth Leader, who was kidnapped on 17 February 2025 while en route to Abuja,” the statement read.
Adejobi also urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information about the abduction, warning that speculation on social media could jeopardize ongoing rescue efforts and endanger the victim’s safety.
“The police urge members of the public to exercise caution and refrain from engaging in social media speculation or sharing unverified information regarding the ongoing rescue efforts. Such activities can inadvertently jeopardise the operation and potentially endanger the victim’s safety,” he said.
The police spokesperson further assured that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring peace and security across the country.
Highlighting recent successes, Adejobi revealed that police operatives in Taraba State raided a suspected criminal hideout at Wamunchi dry-season rice farms on February 26, resulting in the arrest of 20 suspects and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, seven rounds of live ammunition, a motorcycle, three Dane guns, and a bow and arrow.
In Oyo State, he noted that a swift response by tactical teams and local security outfits led to the rescue of three kidnap victims abducted from the palace of Baale Tajudeen Inaolaji on February 24. The operation also resulted in the arrest of one suspect linked to the crime.
The police reassured the public that they would continue to intensify efforts to combat criminal activities and restore public confidence in security agencies.
