Niger North Senator and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Distinguished Senator Abubakar Sani Bello, has extolled the virtues of former Military President and elder statesman, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, as a pivotal figure in Nigeria’s history. Celebrating General Babangida’s 83rd birthday, Senator Bello lauded the octogenarian for his unwavering dedication to national unity, describing him as a towering pillar of a united Nigeria.

In a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Muawiyah Yusuf Muye, Senator Sani Bello expressed profound admiration for General Babangida’s steadfastness and dedication to preserving Nigeria’s cohesion. He emphasized that these qualities have been crucial to the nation’s enduring stability, making the former President an indispensable asset in Nigeria’s quest for lasting prosperity.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to an exemplary elder statesman, a father, and a trusted advisor on this remarkable milestone of reaching the age of 83. Your role as a key architect of Nigeria’s unity and your steadfast patriotism have fortified the foundation upon which our nation stands,” Senator Sani Bello remarked.

He continued, “Your tenure as a military President not only left a lasting legacy but, even in retirement, your wise counsel has been instrumental in guiding successive leaders in policy formulation and decision-making processes.”

Senator Sani Bello concluded his tribute with a heartfelt prayer: “May Almighty Allah continue to grant you sound health, strengthen your faith, and bless you with many more years to offer your invaluable wisdom to Nigerian leaders, continuing the fatherly role you have always played for our great nation.”

Reflecting on General Babangida’s contributions, Senator Sani Bello noted that the elder statesman’s policies and programs during his tenure as Military President in the late 1980s and early 1990s have stood the test of time. He added that the celebrant remains a symbol of statesmanship, courage, and patriotism, whose influence endures far beyond his years of active service.
