The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has made significant strides in enforcing traffic regulations within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) through its recent Operation Karara.
Since its launch on September 2, the operation has led to the arrest of 823 drivers, the impounding of 189 vehicles, and the confiscation of 634 licenses and vehicle documents.
According to a statement released by FRSC spokesperson Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide on Friday, the operation aims to address and reduce traffic light violations, zebra crossing infractions, and other road offenses.
Drivers were charged with various violations, including traffic light breaches, dangerous driving, road marking infractions, and reckless driving.
Ogungbemide emphasized that the goal of Operation Karara is to enhance road safety and ensure strict adherence to traffic laws.
“To build on the successes achieved during the patrols and further uphold traffic discipline in the FCT, the Corps Marshal urges motorists to cooperate with FRSC personnel and comply with all traffic rules and regulations,” he stated.
