A three-storey building under construction collapsed on Friday night in Yaba, trapping several people under the rubble, authorities confirmed. Four men were rescued and immediately taken to hospital as search and rescue operations continue.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. at No. 333 Borno Street, Alagomeji, Yaba, according to Mrs Ibitayo Adenike, Acting Head of the Lagos Operations Office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
“Four men have been rescued and taken to the hospital,” Adenike stated. She added that the exact number of those still trapped cannot yet be determined until the collapsed structure is fully cleared.

- Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service
- Lagos State Building Control Agency
- Nigeria Police Force, among others
