Former Police Spokesman Moshood Jimoh Appointed as Lagos CP by PSC

The Police Service Commission (PSC), officially appointed Moshood Jimoh, as the new Commissioner of Police for Lagos State Command.

Jimoh, who served as the Force Spokesman from January 2017 to January 2019, brings extensive experience to the role.

Over the course of his career, he has held several key positions, including Deputy Commissioner of the Airport Police, Deputy Commissioner of Finance and Administration, Deputy Commissioner of General Investigation, and Commissioner of Police for the Ports Authority, Eastern Ports.

In a statement issued on Monday, February 17, 2025, Ikechukwu Ani, spokesperson for the PSC, announced: “The Police Service Commission, on Monday, February 17, 2025, approved the appointment of Moshood Jimoh as the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State Command.”

“Jimoh, who hails from Kwara State, was formerly the Force Public Relations Officer.

He has since served in various leadership roles, including as Deputy Commissioner of the Airport Police, Deputy Commissioner of Finance and Administration, and Deputy Commissioner of General Investigation.

Prior to this appointment, he was Commissioner of Police for the Ports Authority, Eastern Ports,” the statement continued.

Jimoh’s career is also marked by a commitment to professional development.

He has participated in numerous specialized training programs, including the Combat Operations Course at the Mobile Training College in Maiduguri, the African Union Mission in Darfur, Sudan, and the Weapons of Mass Destruction Countermeasure First Responder Training at the United States Institute.

Additionally, he has completed courses in Social Construction and Management Reform at the China Executive Leadership Academy, Maritime Rescue and Salvage for Developing Countries at the China Maritime Academy, and Anti-Hijacking Techniques at Yunnan Police College in China.

He also received Police Training at the Police Training Institute in Seoul, South Korea.

Jimoh’s exemplary work in public relations earned him the prestigious Presidential Award for Public Relations Personality of the Year, awarded by the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations in recognition of his outstanding contributions.

Ani further confirmed that CP Jimoh appeared before the Commission on the day of his appointment.
