Hajiya Hadiza Ahmed Bawa, mother of the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdurrasheed Bawa, has passed away.
While details surrounding her death remain unclear, Daily Trust confirmed that she died on Wednesday night at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) in Sokoto.
Speaking with Daily Trust, Bawa confirmed the news but provided limited details. “She died in UDUTH Sokoto and will be buried in Jega, Kebbi, InshaAllah, around 2:30 pm,” he said.
Bawa, who became the first civilian to head the EFCC when he was appointed on February 16, 2021, was suspended from office by President Bola Tinubu in July 2023.
