Former Aviation Minister Osita Chidoka Resigns from PDP, Pledges Continued Commitment to Good Governance

Osita Chidoka, a former Minister of Aviation, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). His resignation, dated November 29, 2024, was communicated to his ward in Anambra State.

In his resignation letter, Chidoka expressed deep respect and gratitude for the PDP while emphasizing his ongoing commitment to the values of good governance, national unity, and honest public service.

He also revealed plans to focus on his non-governmental organization, the Athena Centre, which aims to improve public policy and leadership across Nigeria.

“As I step away from active partisan politics, I remain committed to good governance, national unity, and evidence-based and honest public service,” Chidoka wrote. “I look forward to a future where I can once again contribute directly to the political landscape, aligned with the values I hold dear.”

Chidoka conveyed well wishes for the PDP’s continued success in reshaping itself as a catalyst for positive change in the country. He concluded with a message of hope, reiterating his belief in a united Nigeria, free from the divisions of ethnicity and religion.

“I leave the PDP with immense respect and gratitude and wish the party every success as it continues to reposition itself as a force for positive change in Nigeria,” he stated. “Our national aspiration of building a nation where no man is oppressed will be realised sooner rather than later.

I remain hopeful of a renascent Nigeria guided by the spirit of Naija—a shared space where ethnicity and religion do not impede our collective aspirations for a great nation.”

Chidoka ended his letter by thanking the PDP and ward members for their support throughout the years, noting that he would continue to contribute to the nation in different capacities.
