Folakemi Falana, daughter of renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana, has firmly denied allegations of bribery and corruption involving her father and brother, popular musician and activist Falz, in connection with social media personality Bobrisky’s reported prison sentence.
In a statement posted on her Instagram, Folakemi addressed the claims made by social media figure Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM). She labeled the allegations as baseless and defamatory, stating that her father and brother had no involvement in any corrupt dealings with Bobrisky.
Folakemi shared that her family’s law firm, Falana & Falana, had issued legal notices to VDM, demanding a retraction of his statements within 24 hours or face legal action. “It’s even crazier that all it takes is for a ridiculous character like VDM to accuse my dad and Falz of bribery, corruption, and perversion of the course of justice, and people suddenly forget who they are and what they stand for,” she expressed.
She went on to clarify that neither Femi Falana nor Falz had any direct or indirect dealings with Bobrisky, explaining that while Bobrisky had reached out to Falz for financial assistance to secure a VIP section in prison, there was no discussion about a presidential pardon. Furthermore, she emphasized that Bobrisky never approached their law firm for such assistance.
Folakemi defended her family’s longstanding advocacy for providing free legal aid, including presidential pardon applications for Nigerians, and criticized the defamatory narrative being circulated. She concluded her statement by warning VDM of impending legal action, stating, “Seeing as you have refused to do the needful, @verydarkblackman, see you in court.”
