Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has provided financial assistance to 1,000 underprivileged women in Nasarawa State, in a bid to alleviate the economic hardship affecting citizens,
Each beneficiary received N50,000 during a distribution event held at the Government House in Lafia on Thursday.
The empowerment program is part of Mrs. Tinubu’s broader effort to support less-privileged women across the country.
The initiative is designed to help women in rural areas boost their economic activities and improve their living conditions.
The First Lady, represented by Silifat Abdullahi-Sule, the wife of Nasarawa State Governor, explained that the beneficiaries were carefully selected from various communities across all 13 Local Government Areas of the state.
She emphasized that the financial support is focused on grassroots women, excluding those in urban centers, and is happening simultaneously across the nation.
Mrs. Abdullahi-Sule urged the recipients to utilize the funds wisely to improve their livelihoods and justify the trust placed in them by the First Lady.
One of the beneficiaries, Hanatu Luka from Obi Local Government Area, expressed her gratitude, noting that the financial aid would significantly enhance her economic activities and bring much-needed relief.
This latest gesture follows Mrs. Tinubu’s earlier intervention in June when she distributed food items worth millions of Naira to over 1,200 Internally Displaced Persons, individuals with disabilities, and other vulnerable residents of Nasarawa to combat hunger in the region.
