The Federal Government has launched the construction of a smart divisional police headquarters and six residential quarters for police officers in Mpape, a community in the Bwari Area Council of Abuja.

This initiative is part of broader reforms aimed at modernizing policing in Nigeria by integrating advanced technology and promoting inclusivity.

The groundbreaking ceremony was officiated by the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Yusuf Abubakar Argungu, on behalf of Minister Ibrahim Gaidam.

According to a statement released on Sunday by Bolaji Kazeem, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations for the Ministry, the project is designed to tackle security challenges in Mpape and surrounding areas, enhancing safety for residents and businesses.

“The presence of this divisional headquarters will protect citizens from the threats of kidnapping, ‘one-chance’ robbery, and other related crimes,” Gaidam stated.

The Minister reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to transforming the Nigeria Police Force into a modern, technology-driven institution capable of intelligence-led and community-based policing.

“The Federal Government is committed to the emergence of a world-class police force that is inclusive, intelligence-led, technology-driven, and community-based,” the statement added.

Alhaji Adamu Diga, the District Head of Mpape, praised the efforts of the Ministry, the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, and the Nigeria Police Force for upgrading the Mpape Police Post to a Divisional Headquarters.

He emphasized that the development would improve service delivery and operational efficiency for residents.

This project marks a significant step toward enhancing security and modernizing policing infrastructure in the Federal Capital Territory.
