Documents from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) obtained by SaharaReporters reveal allegations of land racketeering involving the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike. The documents indicate that lands revoked in Abuja were reallocated to companies allegedly tied to political allies, including Kingsley Chinda, the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives.
One of the companies named in the allegations, Saravera Nigeria Limited, lists Chinda as a serving director, according to the CAC records. The accusations have sparked widespread criticism, with calls for the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) to investigate Wike and Chinda.
Sources claim that Wike has been revoking land allocations from individuals, including the late Colonel Ogbebor’s family, and reallocating the properties to cronies through “front companies.” A source told SaharaReporters:
“This is a documentary evidence of how Wike revokes innocent people’s lands and reallocates them using companies managed by Kingsley Chinda and one Adapoyi Akor, his agent.”
Adapoyi Akor, another named director in Saravera, is reportedly linked to several projects executed during Wike’s tenure as Rivers State governor. He is also said to be handling the construction of judges’ quarters in Abuja.
Another implicated company, Garden City Mall in Port Harcourt, is alleged to have ties with Wike.
The Southern Leaders Council has demanded immediate action, urging President Bola Tinubu to prosecute Wike and Chinda for alleged violations of the Code of Conduct Act. They are also calling on the House of Representatives to suspend Chinda.
“Nigerians are watching to see how the DSS and President Tinubu will handle this smelly FCT land scam,” a source remarked, adding that an audit of all revoked and reallocated lands under Wike’s administration is necessary to uncover the full extent of the alleged scandal.
Residents of Life Camp in Abuja have voiced outrage over the revocation of their land interests. In videos shared on social media, FCT officials were seen attempting to demolish properties using bulldozers, but residents resisted, citing a subsisting court order prohibiting such actions.
Social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, accused Wike of reallocating the land belonging to a deceased military officer to Saravera Nigeria Limited. He stated:
“These people have been here since 1984. They have all the legal documents. Wike revoked the land and allocated it to Saravera Nigeria Limited, allegedly tied to his cronies.”
Jennifer Omosefe Duru, an X (formerly Twitter) user, shared a video showing FCT officials preparing to demolish her late uncle’s house. She appealed to Wike to reconsider, stating:
“Imagine if my cousins were not around. That’s how Wike would have demolished my late uncle’s sweat. People live here; there are some things you don’t do.”
As public outcry grows, many are demanding transparency and accountability from the FCT Minister and the implicated parties. The allegations have raised questions about land administration practices in Abuja, with Nigerians awaiting decisive action from the government.
