Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan Ekiti, is taking steps to partner with the Government Technical College, Ado Ekiti, in a bid to advance technical and vocational education in the region.
In a statement released Thursday by the polytechnic’s Public Relations Officer, Martins Olowoyo, the institution’s Governing Council Chairman, Prof. Adedayo Fasakin, announced the initiative during an advocacy visit to the technical college.
Fasakin explained that the visit was aimed at establishing a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the institutions, stating, “The MoU is anticipated to create a pathway for technical college students to transition into the polytechnic upon graduation, thereby strengthening educational opportunities and career pathways within Ekiti State.”
Fasakin emphasized that a strategic partnership would be mutually beneficial.
“The Polytechnic hopes to serve as a feeder school for the college, enhancing admissions for technical college graduates,” he said.
He further proposed that the polytechnic would use the college as a part-time training center, offering technical, innovation, and engineering programs to promote hands-on education and workforce development.
Chairman of the Ekiti State Board for Technical and Vocational Education (BVTE), Kayode Babade, welcomed the initiative and commended the polytechnic’s leadership for its proactive approach.
He conducted the team around the college’s facilities and expressed BVTE’s readiness to support and implement the MoU, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts to elevate technical education.
The Polytechnic Rector, Dr. Sunday Ajeigbe, reiterated the institution’s commitment to utilizing the college’s infrastructure to deliver impactful training programs.
He expressed gratitude to the BVTE chairman and his team, highlighting the partnership’s potential to drive significant benefits.
Ekiti State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Adebimpe Aderiye, also praised the partnership initiative, assuring her full support in formalizing the collaboration through an MoU.
According to Olowoyo, a joint technical committee will soon be formed to finalize the MoU’s details, with the aim of fostering productive outcomes for both institutions.
