The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has blamed the ongoing poor power supply in Lagos on faults affecting the 330kV transmission lines that supply electricity to the region.
In a statement issued on Monday, the company explained that a reduced power allocation from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has necessitated load-shedding across its network.
“This is to kindly update you that we are still experiencing reduced power allocation from our TCN partners due to faults on the 330kV lines feeding the Lagos region,” EKEDC stated.
The company assured customers that efforts were underway to resolve the issue in collaboration with TCN and other relevant stakeholders.
“Rest assured that we are taking all necessary steps to address the situation as we work closely with TCN and other partners to resolve the issue and ensure a more stable power supply soonest,” it added.
However, the statement did not specify a timeline for the full restoration of electricity.
Lagos has been grappling with erratic power supply since last week, leaving residents and businesses frustrated.
