The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), officially declared businesswoman and socialite Aisha Achimugu wanted in connection with an alleged case of criminal conspiracy and money laundering.

The announcement was made on Friday through a circular shared by the agency’s spokesman, Dele Oyewale, via the EFCC’s X handle.

According to the EFCC, Achimugu, a 51-year-old native of Ofu Local Government Area in Kogi State, is being sought for questioning regarding her involvement in the alleged financial crimes.

The commission also provided her last known address as 6C Rudolf Close, Maitama, Abuja.

The public notice reads: “The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is seeking the whereabouts of Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu, whose photograph is displayed above, in relation to an ongoing investigation into criminal conspiracy and money laundering.”

The EFCC urges anyone with relevant information on her location to contact the commission at any of its regional offices or through the following channels: 08093322644, info@efcc.gov.ng, or by reporting to the nearest police station or security agency.

This comes after the EFCC had summoned Achimugu to its Port Harcourt office on March 5, 2025, as part of an investigation into alleged money laundering activities and a high-profile investment scam.

The commission issued a letter dated March 4, 2025, which was signed by the acting zonal director, Adebayo Adeniyi.

The letter requested her presence for an interview with the EFCC’s Head of Investigation.

The letter stated: “This commission is currently investigating a case in which the need to obtain certain clarifications from you becomes imperative.

You are kindly requested to attend an interview with the undersigned through the Head of Investigation on Wednesday, 5th March 2025, at 10:00 AM.”

However, instead of complying with the summons, Achimugu reportedly left Nigeria around March 6 or 7.

In response to her failure to appear and her departure from the country, the EFCC obtained an arrest warrant and subsequently declared her wanted.

The investigation continues as the commission seeks to locate Achimugu for further questioning.
