The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 66 suspected internet fraudsters in coordinated sting operations across Ogun and Lagos states.

In a statement issued on Friday in Abuja, EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the arrests, noting that they followed “credible and actionable intelligence” on the suspects’ alleged cybercrime activities.

According to Oyewale, 55 suspects were picked up on Wednesday at K Hotel in Itori, Ewekoro, Ogun State, while another 11 were arrested on Thursday at Tulip Haven, Chevron, Lekki, Lagos State.

Items recovered from the Ogun raid include six exotic cars, two locally-made pistols, a motorcycle, several mobile phones and laptops, incriminating documents, and 89 unclaimed phones.

From the Lagos operation, the EFCC recovered one Range Rover, three Mercedes-Benz vehicles, two Lexus vehicles, and one Toyota vehicle. Also seized were 15 iPhones, two Android phones, one Nokia torch phone, and one MacBook.

Oyewale disclosed that “all the suspects have given useful information to the commission and will be charged in court soon.”
