The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has assured victims of the recent fire incident in Jattu, Etsako West Local Government Area, of the government’s commitment to providing necessary support. The fire, which broke out on January 21, 2025, caused extensive damage to shops and goods in the community.
In a press statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo described the incident as “unfortunate” and expressed his condolences to those affected.
“The governor is deeply saddened by this tragic event, which has caused significant damage to property and livelihoods,” the statement read. “He extends his heartfelt sympathies to the victims and assures them of the state government’s unwavering support.”
According to the statement, the state government is collaborating with the fire service, the emergency management agency, and the local government council to assess the extent of the damage and deliver immediate relief to those impacted.
Governor Okpebholo also called for calm and cooperation from residents as efforts to address the situation continue. “We will overcome this challenge together through collective effort and solidarity,” he stated.
The state government has reiterated its commitment to standing by the affected community during this difficult time.
