The Edo State Government has announced the dissolution of all commissions within the state public service, effective immediately.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, confirmed the decision and directed all chairpersons and members of the affected commissions to transfer government property in their custody to the most senior public officers within their respective commissions.
The statement read:
“It is hereby announced for the information of the general public that the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the dissolution of all commissions in the Edo State Government Public Service with immediate effect.
“For the purpose of emphasis, the commissions include the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission, the Civil Service Commission, Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission, Edo State Forestry Commission, the House of Assembly Service Commission, the State Audit Service Commission, and the Judicial Service Commission.”
The government emphasized that the dissolution is part of ongoing efforts to streamline the public service and enhance governance in the state.
