The Edo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole, initiated corrective measures to address construction flaws identified at the recently remodeled Stella Obasanjo Hospital in Benin.
The hospital, inaugurated by former governor Godwin Obaseki shortly before leaving office, came under scrutiny during an inspection tour led by Oshiomhole on Monday.
He was joined by medical consultants and the project contractor to assess the facility’s readiness for operations.
“We discovered errors made during the construction of the hospital,” Oshiomhole said.
“We discussed what to do to ensure we correct the issues detected.
Teamwork has been instrumental in identifying these errors, which is why I have gynaecologists, surgeons, and other medical consultants here to support me,” he continued.
The commissioner emphasized that all stakeholders, including the contractor and consultants, have committed to resolving the issues promptly to ensure the facility is operational without further delays.
The inspection team included key officials such as the Permanent Secretary of the Hospital Management Agency, Dr. Efosa Aisien; the Director of Clinical Services, Dr. Odiko David; and the Director of Medical Laboratory Services, Omuera Francis.
Oshiomhole reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the necessary adjustments are made to meet the hospital’s operational standards, paving the way for its effective service delivery.
