Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Yakubu Dogara, has called on President Bola Tinubu to expedite the drilling of oil at the Kolmani Oil Well, located in the Bauchi/Gombe prospecting area.
Dogara made this appeal while commissioning a 2.5-kilometer township road in Zaranda, Bauchi South Senatorial District. The road project was executed by Senator Shehu Buba Umar as part of his infrastructure development initiatives.
The former lawmaker emphasized that the immediate commencement of oil drilling at Kolmani would significantly boost federal revenue and subsequently increase Bauchi State’s allocation from the Federation Account.
He noted that implementing this project would also solidify Tinubu’s influence in the region ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In addition to oil drilling, Dogara urged the president to consider the construction of the Bagel/Zungur Multipurpose Dam, a N600 billion project intended to provide water supply, irrigation, and electricity.
He stressed that these two major projects are of great importance to the people of Bauchi State.
Dogara commended Senator Umar for his dedication to infrastructure development, describing the newly commissioned road as a catalyst for economic growth.
He highlighted the project’s potential to enhance commerce, improve transportation, and uplift the standard of living for rural dwellers.
Speaking earlier, Senator Umar reiterated his commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises. He assured his constituents that additional projects were underway, with plans for further commissioning and new project flag-offs to enhance development in the state.
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State, Alhaji Muhammad Tilde, also lauded the senator’s efforts, describing his leadership as transformative.
He encouraged party members to remain united and loyal to ensure the continued growth of the APC in the state.
