The Delta State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, conducted a successful raid on a notorious drug hideout at the Swees Spirit Hotel Junction in Asaba, leading to the arrest of 40 suspected drug dealers.
The operation, which took place on Tuesday night, was prompted by credible intelligence indicating that the area had become a hub for illicit drug activities, posing a significant threat to public safety.
Acting on this information, the police and security stakeholders launched a well-coordinated raid, targeting the criminal hideout.
During the raid, the suspects attempted to evade capture by fleeing into the storm drainage along Okpanam Road. However, the swift and strategic efforts of the police ensured that all 40 individuals were apprehended.
The successful operation is seen as a strong message to criminals that the Delta State security apparatus is determined to eradicate drug trafficking and other related crimes.
The police operation is also expected to serve as a deterrent to those who believe they can continue such illegal activities without consequences.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrests on Wednesday, noting that while an official statement is forthcoming, the raid marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in Delta State.
