The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, praised President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms and policies, describing them as pivotal in transforming Nigeria’s economy.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by the Ministry of Defence’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr. Henshaw Ogubike, Dr. Matawalle highlighted the achievements of Tinubu’s administration, particularly in tax reform and other critical sectors.

“These policies, including the new tax reforms, are already contributing to a significant turnaround in the nation’s economy, which will ultimately benefit all Nigerians,” Matawalle stated.

He called on critics, particularly from Northern Nigeria, to adopt a more positive stance in their assessments of the administration.

“In the light of ongoing criticism, particularly from some quarters in Northern Nigeria, I urge critics to be positive in their narratives,” Matawalle said.

“It is crucial for Nigerians to stand united behind Mr. President, who is working diligently to revitalize our economy through effective policies, programmes, and reforms,” Metawalle continued.

Dr. Matawalle emphasized the importance of the new tax reforms, describing them as a cornerstone of the nation’s economic recovery.

According to him, the reforms are designed to broaden the tax base, promote fairness, and stimulate growth.

“By broadening the tax base and ensuring that everyone pays their fair share, President Tinubu is laying the groundwork for sustainable economic growth,” he explained.

“These reforms will not only increase government revenues but also stimulate investment and job creation across various sectors,” he stated.

The minister noted that the reforms aim to simplify tax administration, fostering a business-friendly environment that encourages entrepreneurship and innovation, both vital for long-term economic progress.

Dr. Matawalle also highlighted the administration’s achievements in national security, citing improvements in the military’s capabilities through the acquisition of modern equipment and hardware.

He stressed that timely payment of salaries and allowances for military personnel had significantly boosted morale.

“Under President Tinubu’s leadership, we are witnessing a renewed commitment to the safety and well-being of all Nigerians, and I encourage everyone to recognize the positive changes taking place,” he added.

The minister urged citizens to support the government’s efforts and reject divisive narratives, underscoring the importance of unity in achieving sustainable national development.

With these initiatives, Dr. Matawalle expressed optimism about the future, calling on Nigerians to remain steadfast in their support for the administration’s transformative agenda.
