Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has officially joined the Recording Academy, the body behind the prestigious GRAMMY Awards, as a voting member.
His inclusion means he will have a direct say in the nomination and final selection process for the 2026 ceremony.
The Recording Academy confirmed his membership in a social media announcement on Tuesday, unveiling Davido alongside other global artistes and industry professionals recently welcomed into the organisation.
The move gives the Feel crooner, who secured three GRAMMY nominations in 2024, a seat among influential voices shaping the future of the world’s most recognised music awards.
Davido’s acceptance reflects the Academy’s ongoing efforts to diversify its membership by bringing in more international and African representation. Over the last few years, the organisation has stepped up its drive to ensure that global music voices are adequately recognised in its processes.
With voting for the 2026 GRAMMYs scheduled to begin on October 3, Davido will now be part of the global community responsible for reviewing entries and deciding winners across categories.
The achievement is another milestone in Davido’s expanding international profile, reinforcing Afrobeats’ growing presence on the global stage.
