The Dangote Refinery has dismissed recent reports suggesting a fixed petrol price of ₦600 per litre, describing such announcements as speculative and unsubstantiated. The statement, issued on Tuesday by Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Industries Limited, addresses the confusion generated by media reports.
These reports, notably from Punch Newspapers, claimed that the refinery was in discussions with oil marketers and might price petrol at ₦600 per litre. However, Chiejina clarified that these reports are not based on any formal agreements or negotiations.
“The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) is not our business partner at this time,” Chiejina stated. “We have never engaged in discussions regarding the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) with IPMAN, and they do not have the mandate or authority to represent our interests in such matters.”
The refinery emphasized that it has not set or confirmed any petrol prices through IPMAN or any other body. The company also urged the public to avoid relying on speculative reports and to refer to official channels for accurate and verified information regarding the refinery’s operations and pricing policies.
In its statement, the Dangote Refinery reinforced its commitment to transparency and proper communication with stakeholders, reiterating that official updates will be provided through the company’s established communication channels.
