The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has signed a N1.5 billion Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bayero University Kano (BUK) to provide scholarship support for postgraduate students at the institution’s Dangote Business School.

Under the agreement, the foundation will disburse N300 million annually over a five-year period to support eligible students pursuing MBA, entrepreneurship and management programmes.

The MoU, signed at the Dangote Business School auditorium, was executed by ADF Board of Trustees member, Hajiya Mariya Aliko Dangote, and BUK Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Musa.

Each beneficiary will receive N150,000 per academic session beginning from the 2024/2025 academic year. The amount represents about 50 per cent of the current N300,000 tuition fee for postgraduate students.

The intervention is expected to benefit the school’s 1,225 postgraduate students, including 696 fresh entrants and 529 returning students.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Chairman of the Aliko Dangote Foundation and President of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, represented by Mariya Aliko Dangote, said the initiative aligns with the foundation’s human capital development goals.

He stated: “Our vision at the Foundation is to build human capital that translates into economic opportunity.”

Dangote added that “strengthening business and entrepreneurship education is critical to turning knowledge into enterprise, innovation, and jobs,” noting that the scholarship programme reinforces the foundation’s commitment to developing future business leaders and change-makers.

The partnership reflects growing private-sector support for higher education and entrepreneurship development as part of broader efforts to enhance skills, innovation and job creation in Nigeria.
