Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal’s iconic captain, has shared his thoughts after reaching a monumental milestone in football.
The legendary forward, who now holds an unprecedented record, scored his 900th career goal during Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Croatia in Lisbon on Thursday.
The 39-year-old converted a precise cross from Nuno Mendes, marking yet another remarkable achievement in his illustrious career.
With this goal, Ronaldo became the first player in football history to reach 900 goals, reinforcing his status as one of the sport’s greatest figures.
Speaking after the game, Ronaldo reflected on the significance of the milestone, telling fans (via Fabrizio Romano), “Reaching 900 goals might seem like just another milestone, but only I understand the daily hard work it takes to achieve something like this. It’s a unique moment in my career. I don’t break records; they seem to chase me!”
Ronaldo’s closest competitor, Lionel Messi, trails behind with 838 goals for club and country, keeping the rivalry between the two football giants alive.
