The High Court in Lafia has sentenced Oluwatimileyin Ajayi to death by hanging for the gruesome murder of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Salome Adaidu.
Delivering judgment on Wednesday, Justice Simon Aboki found Ajayi guilty of culpable homicide, noting that the evidence presented proved beyond reasonable doubt that he killed and dismembered the victim.
Ajayi was charged with one count of culpable homicide, contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code applicable in Northern Nigeria, which prescribes the death penalty upon conviction.
“Having carefully considered the facts before the court, I find the defendant guilty as charged. He is hereby sentenced to death by hanging,” Justice Aboki declared.
