A Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected a lawsuit seeking to remove Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The suit, filed by the APC North Central Group, was deemed premature and related to internal party matters.
Justice Inyang Ekwo, in his ruling, stated that the plaintiff, the APC North Central Group, lacked the legal standing to file the suit, as it is not a registered legal entity. Additionally, the judge ruled that the group failed to exhaust the APC’s internal mechanisms for resolving disputes before resorting to the courts.
Ekwo further emphasized that the appointment of party officials by the APC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) is an internal affair and not something the court can intervene in.
The suit had sought to nullify Ganduje’s appointment, arguing that the party’s constitution had been violated, particularly concerning the zoning of the chairmanship to the North Central region.
The judge concluded that the case lacked merit and dismissed it accordingly.
