Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter, Chike Osebuka, widely known as Chike, has revealed that he has no plans of getting married anytime soon, describing the institution of marriage as an unnecessary step for him.
The 32-year-old artiste, who is celebrated for his soulful love songs and hit album Boo of the Booless, shared his personal views during an appearance on the WithChude podcast hosted by media personality Chude Jideonwo.
He explained that, contrary to public perception shaped by his romantic music, his happiness is more closely tied to financial security than to love or marriage.
Chike reflected on his journey into the music industry, admitting that he only decided to take music seriously after completing his university education.
According to him, singing initially began as a pastime that often disturbed those around him, but later became a career path he chose to pursue fully.
The artiste also opened up about the financial difficulties he encountered at the beginning of his career. To make ends meet, he ventured into acting for about two years before eventually finding his breakthrough in music.
Despite his reputation as a love ballad singer, Chike has consistently expressed unconventional views about romance.
In 2022, he disclosed that he had never said the words “I love you” because the phrase made him feel too vulnerable, though he admitted that music provided him with an outlet to express such emotions artistically.
Chike’s revelations further highlight the contrast between his personal beliefs and the themes of love and affection that dominate his music, showing the different layers of his personality beyond the stage.
