Chelsea have initiated talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the potential signing of French international Randal Kolo Muani, as the club looks to strengthen its attacking options ahead of the new season.
The 26-year-old striker, currently on loan at Juventus, has emerged as a top target for the Blues following underwhelming displays from current forwards Nicolas Jackson and Liam Delap. While Kolo Muani is reportedly content with his situation in Turin, Chelsea’s interest and financial muscle may yet sway the decision in their favour.
Juventus, for their part, are eager to extend his stay with an option to buy, but Chelsea’s need for proven firepower could prove decisive.
Kolo Muani, who played a key role in France’s run to the 2022 World Cup final, fits the profile preferred by new Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca — a dynamic, experienced striker capable of leading the line at the highest level.
The urgency to land a new forward intensified after Jackson received a red card in the Club World Cup clash against Flamengo.
The Senegalese striker was dismissed just minutes after coming on, following a studs-up challenge that drew sharp criticism from both fans and pundits. It marked his second red card in two months, amplifying concerns over his discipline and consistency.
Meanwhile, Delap has failed to impress in his limited appearances, adding further pressure on the club to secure a reliable goal-scorer.
Chelsea are also monitoring Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitiké, but Muani is currently seen as the more polished and ready-made solution.
With Champions League football on the horizon, Chelsea are determined to reinforce their squad and return to the top tier of English football. A successful deal for Kolo Muani could be a crucial step toward that goal.
