Former Bayer Leverkusen coach Bruno Labbadia is set to take the reins of the Super Eagles in a crucial AFCON 2025 qualifier next month.
In the early hours of Tuesday, August 27th, Nigerian football enthusiasts were excited to learn about Bruno Labbadia’s new role as the head coach of the national team.
At 58 years old, he steps in for Finidi George, who was unable to meet the expectations during his tenure.
The Super Eagles have some pivotal matches on the horizon, starting with an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin on Saturday, September 7th. Just three days later, Labbadia’s squad will head to Kigali to face the Wasps of Rwanda.
Taking on one of the most challenging jobs in football, Labbadia has only 10 days to prepare Nigeria for this vital AFCON 2025 qualifier. His primary task will be to restore the Super Eagles’ confidence after a disappointing run of three winless matches.
The last outing for Nigeria ended in a disheartening 1-2 loss to the underdog Benin Republic as they vie for a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Now, let’s take a look at how the Super Eagles might line up under Bruno Labbadia’s leadership.
Bruno Labbadia’s Predicted Super Eagles 11: Maduka Okoye; Ola Aina, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Bruno Onyemachi; Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Dele Bashiru; Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon, Victor Boniface.
