A member of the House of Representatives, representing Orumba North/Orumba South Federal Constituency in Anambra State, Clara Nnabuife, officially defected from the Young Progressives Party (YPP) to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Nnabuife, who made the announcement during Thursday’s plenary session, cited her exclusion from party activities as the primary reason for her defection.
The letter detailing her decision was read on the floor of the House by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, who was presiding in the absence of Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.
In her letter, Nnabuife explained that joining APGA would provide her with a better platform to effectively represent the aspirations of her constituents.
“The exclusion from the activities of YPP and the need to embrace a better platform to represent the wishes of my people is the reason for this decision,” part of the letter stated.
Further details will follow.
