President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Donald Trump on his re-election as the 47th President of the United States, expressing hopes for closer ties between the two nations amid today’s global challenges and opportunities. In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu conveyed his desire for enhanced cooperation.
“Together, we can foster economic cooperation, promote peace, and address global challenges that affect our citizens,” Tinubu stated, highlighting the potential for mutual growth.
He also praised the U.S. electorate for their commitment to democracy, viewing Trump’s victory as a testament to the confidence Americans place in his leadership. Reflecting on Trump’s previous term as the 45th U.S. President, Tinubu expressed optimism that his return to the White House will “usher in an era of earnest, beneficial, and reciprocal economic and development partnerships between Africa and the United States,” Onanuga noted.
