President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria and President Xi Jinping of China are currently leading a high-level meeting expected to culminate in the signing of significant economic and bilateral agreements.
A source accompanying President Tinubu in China confirmed the meeting in a brief message on Tuesday morning, stating, “President Tinubu is now in a meeting with President Jinping.”
The ongoing discussions are anticipated to result in the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in various sectors, including green economy, agriculture, satellite technology development, blue economy, and more.
Last week, Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale briefed journalists at the State House in Abuja, highlighting that the official visit would include important interactions between the two leaders on behalf of their nations.
“Mr. President will meet with his Chinese counterpart, President Xi Jinping, where several MoUs will be signed,” Ngelale stated.
“These MoUs will focus on deepening cooperation in areas such as the green economy, agriculture, satellite technology development, media enterprise development, and blue economic development, as well as national planning cooperation.”
Ngelale further emphasized that this meeting is part of a broader engagement where both heads of state will discuss matters of mutual interest, not only in economic terms but also concerning national, regional, and international security.
