Nigerians faced yet another power outage on Wednesday as the national grid suffered its 12th collapse this year.
Reports indicate that from January to November 2024, the grid has failed 11 times, with three of these collapses occurring within a single week in October, triggering widespread blackouts and public outcry.
Confirming the latest incident, a tweet from the official handle of Nigeria’s National Grid stated that the grid went down at approximately 2:09 p.m. on Wednesday.
“The major grid setback has occurred, and the restoration is to commence,” the tweet read.
This marks a historic low, with the grid collapsing 12 times in a single year—a record in the nation’s power sector.
