The Lagos State House of Assembly, made history by swearing in Mojisola Meranda as its first female Speaker.
Meranda, who represents the Apapa 1 State Constituency, assumed office following the impeachment of the former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, during a plenary session on Monday.
In her oath of office, Meranda pledged to uphold the duties of her new position with integrity and commitment.
“I affirm that I will be faithful as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly; that I will perform my functions honestly to the best of my ability, faithfully, and in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Meranda declared.
Further details on the development are expected to follow.
