The Nigerian House of Representatives has issued a directive for the immediate shutdown of all pornographic websites across the country.
The lawmakers mandated the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to enforce the ban by blocking access to such platforms nationwide.
During a plenary session on Tuesday, members of the House emphasized the need to curb access to explicit content, stating that internet service providers must implement restrictions in compliance with the order.
The motion, sponsored by Representative Dalhatu Tafoki from Katsina State, was presented as a measure to safeguard societal values and protect citizens from the negative influence of pornography.
Further details on the enforcement of the directive are expected to emerge as the NCC and relevant authorities take action.
