The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has clarified that former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, is not in their custody.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, refuted media reports claiming that Bello was being held by the anti-graft agency.

According to Oyewale, the reports are inaccurate and misleading.

The EFCC reiterated that Yahaya Bello is still wanted in connection with alleged money laundering involving N80.2 billion.

A warrant for his arrest remains active, and the Commission is continuing its efforts to apprehend him.

The former governor was declared wanted earlier over the financial misconduct allegations, but he has yet to be detained by the authorities.

Further updates are expected as the situation unfolds.

Details to follow.
