The Bauchi State Government has secured a
$91.6 million financing facility from the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) to fund the construction and rehabilitation of key roads and bridges across the state, Governor Bala Mohammed has announced.

Governor Mohammed disclosed the development after returning from Lomé, Togo, where he led a state delegation to the formal signing of the Bauchi State Transport Infrastructure Financing Programme at the headquarters of EBID.

According to the governor, the funding was secured after 18 months of negotiations and is backed by a Federal Government guarantee. He added that the facility has already been incorporated into the state’s 2026 budget, expressing confidence that the funds would be accessed in August.

“The facility was secured after 18 months of negotiations and is backed by a Federal Government guarantee,” Mohammed said.
He also assured residents that all ongoing road projects across the state would be completed before the end of his administration.

The financing will support the construction and rehabilitation of major transport corridors, including the Mararraban Liman Katagum–Bununu, Soro–Miya, Gumau–Kaduna border and Bara–Wanka roads. The programme will also provide funding for stalled urban renewal projects, including roads within the Government Reserved Area (GRA) and bridges across Bauchi metropolis.

State officials said the infrastructure programme is expected to improve connectivity, reduce transportation costs, stimulate economic activities, create jobs, strengthen agricultural value chains and expand access to markets, healthcare facilities and other essential services.
