Arsenal continued their impressive form with a 3-1 victory over Brentford on Wednesday, extending their unbeaten streak to 11 matches across all competitions and reclaiming second place in the Premier League table.
Despite missing star player Bukayo Saka due to injury, Mikel Arteta’s side showcased resilience and tactical precision to secure the win against a Brentford team with a strong home record.
Thrilling Comeback Victory
The match started on a sour note for Arsenal when Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo found the net in the 13th minute during the home side’s first attack. However, Arsenal kept their composure, with Gabriel Jesus equalizing just before halftime.
The Gunners came out stronger in the second half, taking the lead five minutes in when Mikel Merino capitalized on a defensive error from a corner. Shortly after, Gabriel Martinelli’s stunning volley sealed the victory, solidifying Arsenal’s grip on the game.
Arteta’s Title Vision
Speaking to reporters, Arteta praised his team’s perseverance and shared his strategic approach to the title race. “I think the team showed a lot of composure. To keep insisting, keep attacking them,” Arteta said.
While acknowledging that the title isn’t fully in Arsenal’s hands, he emphasized focusing on what the team can control. “We can only win our next match and see what happens. It’s not in our hands, but what is in our hands we need to make sure we do it,” he added, speaking via Reuters.
Arteta also took a moment to commend 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri, who made his first Premier League start, highlighting the depth of talent within the squad.
Arsenal in the Title Hunt
The win lifts Arsenal to second place in the Premier League with 39 points from 19 games, surpassing Chelsea and Nottingham Forest. With their unbeaten run intact and a clear focus on consistency, Arteta’s men have firmly positioned themselves as strong contenders in the title race.
