Arsenal are set to finalize a long-term contract extension for rising star Ethan Nwaneri, as they aim to fend off interest from rival clubs and secure his future at the Emirates.
The 18-year-old midfielder, who has been a part of the first-team setup since the start of the season, is expected to sign a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2030.
This agreement would mark a significant step in Arsenal’s commitment to nurturing young talent and ensuring stability within their squad.
Since making history as the youngest-ever player to feature in a Premier League match at just 15 years and 181 days in 2022, Nwaneri has continued to develop into a key asset for Mikel Arteta’s side.
His rapid rise saw him earn his first professional contract upon turning 17 last March, and a fresh five-year extension is now on the table as a reward for his progress.
With Bukayo Saka sidelined due to injury since December, Nwaneri has seen increased playing time and has made the most of his opportunities. He was permanently promoted to the senior squad ahead of this season alongside close friend Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Arsenal are keen to secure Nwaneri’s future amid previous interest from Manchester City and Chelsea, who have been monitoring his situation. His current contract, designed for a developing prospect, no longer reflects his growing importance to the squad.
Alongside Nwaneri’s contract talks, Arsenal are also working on securing new deals for key players such as Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, and Gabriel as they prepare for another competitive season.
