The Nigerian Army’s 6 Battalion in Ibagwa has reassured residents of Abak Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State to remain calm as they begin the demolition of unserviceable ammunition and explosives at the 6Bn Range Area.
The operation, which started on Monday, August 19, 2024, will continue until Thursday, August 22.
In a statement released by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Adebowale Adejimi, titled “Demolition of Unserviceable Ordinances,” the Army emphasized that the exercise is a routine procedure.
“The demolition of unserviceable ammunition and explosives is scheduled to take place at 6 Bn Range Area in Abak LGA from 19-22 August 2024,” the statement read.
The Army has advised the residents to avoid the designated exercise area and not to be alarmed by the sound of explosives during the demolition.
Adejimi further assured the public that comprehensive safety and security measures have been implemented to protect the range area and its surroundings.
