The South West Zonal Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced plans to recruit canvassers in all 2,000 electoral wards across the six states in the zone to mobilise grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.

The decision was reached on Wednesday during a strategic meeting in Akure, Ondo State, where party leaders brainstormed on political programmes aimed at securing a second term for the president.

The meeting was attended by the six APC state chairmen in the region and members of the National Executive Council (NEC).

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, South West Zonal Chairman of the APC, Isaac Kekemeke, said the canvassers would be tasked with informing voters at the grassroots about the achievements of Tinubu’s administration.

“The Canvassers will avail the people at the grassroots and all wards the efforts and results of President Tinubu’s socio-economic policies and programmes for the development of the federation,” Kekemeke explained.

He said the committee had evaluated the administration’s economic policies and various development programmes, concluding that Tinubu had performed creditably well.

“Our assessment is based not only on our observations but also on the comments and evaluations of experts, international organisations, and international financial institutions, which have been positive,” he noted.

Kekemeke added that the South West aims to replicate for Tinubu the level of electoral support the North West consistently delivered to the late President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Our goal is that the South West must do to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu electorally what the North West consistently did for the late President Muhammadu Buhari,” he said.
