The National Executive Council (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is scheduled to convene on July 24, 2025, to elect a new national chairman, following the recent resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The decision was reached during an emergency meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) held at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.
Ganduje stepped down from his position last Friday, prompting the party to initiate the process of selecting a new leader.
In the meantime, the Deputy National Chairman (North), Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, has been appointed as the Acting National Chairman and officially assumed the role on Monday.
Speaking to journalists after the emergency session, the party’s Deputy National Secretary, Barrister Festus Fuanter, confirmed the date of the NEC meeting.
He also disclosed that a formal notification has been dispatched to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in line with electoral guidelines.
The upcoming NEC meeting is expected to be a pivotal moment for the ruling party as it moves to stabilize leadership and chart the way.
